Chicken Feed
Chicken feed is tailored to meet the unique nutritional needs for the different stages of a chicken’s life.
CHICKS: from 0-8 weeks, baby chicks are fed a high protein food (18-22%) to support rapid growth, called Chick Starter or Chick Crumble. Chicks need free access to water and food and they should transition to a food with moderate protein level at 8 weeks.
PULLETS: from 8-20 weeks, young hens and roosters need a food with moderate protein level (15-18%) to support their steady growth, called Grower Feed or Grower Granules.
LAYING HENS: from 20 weeks onward, laying hens need a moderate protein level (15-18%) with increased calcium (3-4%) to strengthen eggshells and support bone health.
ROOSTERS: from 20 weeks, Roosters can continue to eat a Grower feed as they need moderate protein but do no need the calcium that Laying Hens require.
